Instead of asking kids about their summer vacation, why not ask them about their media and technology use this summer?
We know that children spend a lot more time online during the summer as compared with the school year. Even very young children may be playing with videogames and apps on a tablet, watching movies and YouTube videos, listening to music, and watching TV.
Other children will have created their own YouTube videos, written and performed stories and songs, and made contributions to online communities. Check out the IDEAS page to find a back-to-school activity to learn about your students' interests in media and technology.
